Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never been to counselling before. How do I start?

Getting started often feels like the hardest part. I totally understand that, and you are already off to a great start by being here! Some folks like to begin with a complementary phone consultation and others like to dive right in and book a session. Initial sessions or consults are all about establishing safety in relationship, so you are in the driver’s seat and we can go as slow as you need. Read my blog post or reach out if you want to consult.

Are you covered by my benefits?

I hope so, though I unfortunately I can’t answer this! Check in with your benefits provider to see if Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) are covered - each provider is unique in what they offer. You will be provided with a receipt from me for reimbursement upon payment.

How much does a session cost?

For a 50 minute session my rate is $175 for individuals and $225 for a relationship session. I offer 75 minute sessions as well, which are pro-rated.

I have a handful of sliding scale spots available for people who are experiencing financial hardship. These spots are currently full but feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

For more information on the types of sessions I offer, visit my Services page.

Do your prices ever increase?

Yes, but I will give ample notice (at least 3 months) when this happens and am always open to chatting with you if a price change impacts your ability to get care. I also aim to keep price changes minor and as infrequent as possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you do so at least 48 hours in advance. I charge full price for a no-show or late cancel session.

Is your office accessible?

Yes, it is! I am located in a building with an elevator and gender neutral washrooms. The seating in my office is a love seat that can comfortably support a wide range of body shapes, sizes, and weights.

What is your favourite thing about being a counsellor?

The people I get to connect with, hands down! I feel so grateful to get to sit with people being courageously vulnerable, often sharing deeply painful stories. It is not lost on me how lucky I am to be doing this work.
